Hemmige S Prashanth was initiated into music by his parents Sri Hemmige D Sharangapani and Smt Shakuntala Pani at an early age. Prashanth hails from the ancient village of Hemmige near Mysore and is the grandson of the renowned Kannada and Sanskrit Scholar Sri Hemmige Deshikachar. Prashanth belongs to the Ariyakudi - KV Narayanaswamy tradition of music. He has been a disciple of Padmashri Sangeetha Kalanidhi, Palghat Sri KV Narayanaswamy for over 7 years and is now learning under Smt Padma Narayanaswamy for 17 years. Prashanth has won several awards and accolades from many prestigious institutions. Ek Raag Anek Roop
“Ek Raag Anek Roop” is a Raag based series of concerts initiated by Shrutiupasan to educate, promote, popularize Indian classical music and Indian music therapy. For the first time we are going to present an evening Raag Bhupali and its application in different genres. Bhupali is a pentatonic raag, with 5 notes ascending and descending. A similar raag is present in Carnatic classical music called Mohanam Its one of the most popular raagas used in Bollywood.
