Swati Sougandhikam explores the beauty of classical dances

A special cultural gala that narrated the beauty of classical dance forms was held at the Ganesham auditorium in Thiruvananthapuram recently. The event titled Swati Sougandhikam was organised by Soorya and a Singapore-based cultural organisation. Eminent dancers Shantha Ratii, Rama Vaidyanathan and Gopika Varma enthralled the viewers with their performances in kuchipudi, bharatanatyam and mohiniyattam respectively.

With soulful classical jathis and expressions, the danseuses narrated various stories including the devotion to Lord Sree Padmanabha to the pangs of a nayika. At the do we spotted, filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Ayyappan Pillai, Princess Pooyam Thirunal Gowri Parvati Bayi, Princess Aswathi Thirunal Gouri Lakshmi Bayi, Raja Raja Varma and TP Sreenivasan.
